Welcome!
Dear Hockey Fans, Many of you may be thinking the very thought that our family had when we received my dad's diagnosis. "I never knew you could get cancer of the appendix?"  After everything our family has gone through the past year and a half I thought I would incorporate two thing's that are extremely important to our family. One, raising money and awareness to further research for cancer and two, hockey-which is a staple in the Havel household. I decided along with my brother Parker, sister Olivia and our mom what better thing can we do but support someone who has always been our biggest fan and supporter.
Through our Shut Out Cancer organization we have partnered with the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation and executive director Wendy Roy. Our efforts will benefit the University of Minnesota appendix cancer research, our local Grand Rapids Hospice and the American Cancer Society. To a goalie a shut out means a well fought battle to a perfect game for his or her team. I hope you will consider joining my team to help SHUT OUT CANCER. Thank you, |

As many of you may or may not know my dad Jerry Havel has been battling a rare cancer of the appendix for the past year and a half. He has been forunate to receive the best care possible in the United States by Dr. Todd Tuttle at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Tuttle specializes in treating this rare cancer that affects as few as 1,400 people a year.
